The search is on to find Derbyshire's next youth councillors.
Do you want to make your voice heard and represent the views of other young people? If you do, the Derbyshire Youth Council could be right for you.
Derbyshire Youth Council is made up of 57 young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Youth councillors are elected from across the county and get to have a say about things affecting young people.
You'll gain skills and experience as well as have a lot of fun along the way. Standing for council also looks great on your CV when you're applying for jobs, training or university.
If you get voted in as a member of Derbyshire Youth Council you'll get the chance to make decisions on how money is spent on young people and services in your area, to have your say and make your views known to top-level decision-makers.
We're looking for young people who think they have what it takes to get involved and stand for election.
How does it work?
Stand for election by 20 November 2017.
If you think being a youth councillor could be for you, a nomination form is attached to this page, or pick one up from school.
Campaign for votes by 16 February 2018.
Everyone who is standing for election is able to campaign for votes until 16 February 2018. This means letting people know that you're standing for election and persuading people to vote for you. Promotional resources will be available to help you with your campaign.
Vote for the new youth council, 5 March 2018 to 9 March 2018.
Schools have five days to make sure everyone casts their vote. Students should look out for the voting forms in school to make sure they get their chance to vote.
Successful candidates will be contacted on Monday 19 March 2018.
The new youth council will then be invited to an induction evening on Friday 23 March 2018 at County Hall, Matlock.
If being a youth councillor is not for you, or if you stand and don't get elected, you can still make your voice heard by joining your local youth forum.
As a member of your local youth forum you'll feedback to the Derbyshire Youth Council about important issues in your local community.

- High Peak
- Amber Valley
- North East Derbyshire
- South Derbyshire.
